Gavin Turley, a major proponent of this philosophy, retired from the Kidney Foundation in July 2008 after 15 years of service as the National Executive Director. His professional career spanned more than 40 years in Canada’s voluntary sector. It was marked by a constant commitment to initiatives aimed at strengthening the community and the organizational leadership abilities of volunteers and staff.

It is in view of this hallmark of spirit and dedication that the National Board of Directors established The Gavin Turley Scholarship for Civic Engagement.
