Every year, individuals, clubs and businesses across the country get behind us with their own creative ideas and raise funds to improve the lives of Canadians living with kidney disease.

Community events raise much needed funds to help us support innovative research and deliver critical programs and services when it’s needed most. Not to mention, they are an important way to raise awareness about kidney health and organ donation within your community.

Best of all, your guests will appreciate the gesture!

We can provide you with a certificate to display at your celebration, acknowledging the donation.

This can be done for just about any occasion such as a wedding, bridal or baby shower, anniversary party, birthday party, a celebration of an organ transplant, bar or bat mitzvah, graduation, communion party, or whatever your heart desires! We look forward to assisting you in making your celebration a special one.  Contact a member of our team for assistance.
  • Mark a Milestone
Are you the guest of honour at an event and don’t wish to receive gifts?  Consider asking your guests to make an online donation to The Kidney Foundation instead of buying a gift. Create a personal page which you can customize to reflect your celebration.

Tips for organizing a fundraiser

  • Set Goals
Once you’ve decided they type of event you are going to host, plan a budget to help you identify expenses as well as expected sources of revenue. Keep in mind: the lower your costs, the bigger impact you can make in supporting Canadians living with kidney disease.
  • Upon Approval - Form a Planning Committee
Once your event has been approved, recruit dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers with a variety of skills. More hands make less work!
  • Outline the Event Logistics
When choosing a date and venue, keep in mind holidays, the time of day, location and other events taking place in the same area. The date should be convenient for those who will be attending the event and the venue should be easily accessible to your guests. It helps to create a timeline or checklist to guarantee that your plans stay on track. Ensure you are constantly updating your budget and critical path.
  • Start Your Event Promotion
Remember your audience when deciding on how to promote your event. We would be pleased to have your event materials display our name and/or logo, but we must ensure that our brand is represented appropriately. The Kidney Foundation must approve any materials that include our name or logo.
  • Determine the Allocation, Collection & Designation of Funds
If the funds raised from your fundraiser are to be designated to a certain Kidney Foundation program, or research area, this designation should be confirmed with us in advance. The Kidney Foundation is a registered charity and can issue tax receipts in accordance with the Canada Revenue Agency guidelines.
  • Don't forget to Say Thanks
Show your appreciation and say thanks to all those who contributed to your event whether they helped on a committee, volunteered or supported your event financially. Let your guests know about the impact of their support and how it is making a difference in the lives of people living with kidney disease.
