Participate in a Clinical Trial
Clinical trials are research studies that are designed to answer specific questions about biomedical or behavioural interventions, like medications, devices, or protocols. They are often used to gain information about the safety and effectiveness of an intervention.
Are you interested in participating in a clinical trial? Please see below to see some of the currently available trials recruiting participants in Canada. Please note that The Kidney Foundation of Canada does not provide medical advice, and the listing of these trials is for informational and awareness purposes only. As always, please consult your health care team to see if enrolment in a trial is right for you.
Are you a researcher or company interested in posting a clinical trial? Please see our guidelines on Clinical Trial Communication and fill out the Study Dissemination Application form found below.

A Study to Evaluate the Efficacy and Safety of Frexalimab, Brivekimig, or Rilzabrutinib in Participants Aged 16 to 75 Years with Primary Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis or Minimal Change Disease (The RESULT Study)
Overview
This study is testing three investigational study drugs to see if they are safe to use and if they work well for treating two kidney conditions called primary Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) or Minimal Change Disease (MCD).
In primary FSGS and MCD, the immune system mistakenly attacks parts of the kidney. This makes the kidneys “leaky”, and proteins escape into the urine.
This study will measure how each study drug affects the amount of protein in the urine compared with a placebo.
Each study drug works in a different way to calm parts of the immune system involved in FSGS and/or MCD.

Participation
This study will include:
The Study Treatment Period is divided into two parts: Each part lasts 12 weeks. In Part 1, you will be assigned by chance to receive one of three investigational study drugs or the placebo. In Part 2, everyone will receive an investigational study drug.
Follow up for up to 48 weeks after treatment.
