Manitoba Medical Service Foundation Partnership

The Manitoba Medical Service Foundation (MMSF) is a not-for-profit organization established in 1971. Their mission is to support early career researchers undertaking health research and education initiatives in the province of Manitoba. In doing so, MMSF funds a variety of researchers and projects across disciplines to advance preventive, therapeutic, and rehabilitative care in the province.

In 2026, we partnered with MMSF through their Research Operating Grant program which funds projects that seek to improve healthcare outcomes for Manitobans. We contributed $20,000 to support the Cytomegalovirus Understanding and Resistance Evaluation (CURE) research project, led by Dr. Ayooluwa Bolaji at the University of Manitoba. This project aims to develop a new tool to streamline the diagnosis and treatment of antiviral resistant cytomegalovirus infection in transplant recipients.

Importance to The Kidney Foundation of Canada

The Kidney Foundation of Canada strives to support research that impacts the lives of kidney transplant patients. As such, we have a vested interest in supporting research projects that have the potential to improve health outcomes for all transplant recipients. By doing so, we help to ensure more successful and long-lasting kidney transplants.

Partnering with organizations like MMSF offers us the opportunity to contribute to provincial research projects with the potential to improve diagnosis, treatment, and care across the country.
