The Kidney Foundation believes that kidney patients should not be deterred from choosing home dialysis therapies due to financial burden. Those patients with end stage kidney disease who live a certain distance from Home Hemodialysis or Peritoneal Dialysis training programs can apply to the Kidney Foundation for a grant.
There are no financial criteria for eligibility and all referrals for funding will come through each patient’s renal social worker.
Northern Travel: Those patients who live within the Northern Health Authority and would like to train in Prince George for Home Hemodialysis or Peritoneal Dialysis can apply to the Kidney Foundation for a grant that could include gas cards for travel and some accommodation expenses.
Interior, Coastal & Fraser Health Authorities: Those patients who need to travel a distance to access a training facility in one of these health authorities for Home Hemodialysis or Peritoneal Dialysis can apply for a Kidney Foundation grant that could include gas cards for travel and where extreme distance in travel is needed, accommodation may be covered as well.
