Summer Camps

Region:
Ontario

Dialysis doesn’t take a vacation, but families living with kidney disease can still get away!

The Kidney Foundation is proud to support summer camp experiences for adults and youth affected by kidney disease or living with a transplant. Camp is the chance to have new adventures and make new friends in an environment that also provides essential medical services, including an on-site medical clinic and trained medical staff.

Summer camps offer fun, caring environment

We have been working with Lion's Camp Dorset for over forty years to help make a summer vacation a reality for countless families living with kidney disease. The camp, owned and operated by Lion’s Club Camp Dorset Corp., is in beautiful Dorset, Ontario.

We help subsidize the program cost for each patient attending by contributing $275, paid directly to Camp Dorset, for each patient. Individuals requiring additional assistance can apply for support through their renal social worker.

The summer schedule allocates each week’s resources to guests from specific regions of Ontario. Speak to your renal social worker or contact the camp to learn more.

The Kidney Foundation is also proud to support camp experiences for children living with transplants and those living with organ failure through Campfire Circle, a camp that empowers children affected by serious illness in Muskoka. Campers participate in fun activities within a community of friends with shared experiences. Through the stories of past and present campers, we have seen the powerful, positive impact of the work done by the leadership at camp.
