Kidney One on One Northern Alberta is a patient-driven, peer support program that connects patients with kidney transplant recipients, living kidney donors, dialysis patients, and caregivers. Team members are passionate and trained to support others living with chronic kidney disease and those experiencing organ failure. In addition, team members are knowledgeable about kidney transplantation and the living kidney donation process.
The program is designed to place Kidney One on One team members where patients are at: in dialysis units, in renal insufficiency clinics, and in the community. Team members serve as a resource by sharing personal and lived experiences about their kidney journey and answering questions from a non-clinical perspective.
