Recently, the BC and Yukon Branch hosted a recognition evening for the 2025 inductees into the Living Donor Circle of Excellence (CoE).

When Ronald Frank Chapman—known affectionately to his family and community as “Papa”—began showing signs of illness in late 2018, he had no idea he was living with kidney disease.

The Kidney Foundation of Canada is pleased to announce that a number of its volunteers, along with innovators and leaders in kidney research and health care, and organ donation and transplantation have been named as recipients of the prestigious King Charles III Coronation Medal.

On the first day of Kidney Health Month, Dr. Adeera Levin (nephrologist, executive director of BC Renal, and honorary chair of the Kidney Gala) was joined by Nich Persaud, a thriving dad of two living with kidney disease, on Global News Morning Weekend BC.

On October 2, members of the BC & Yukon Branch will be in Whitehorse at the Kwanlin Dün Cultural Centre for conversations with Yukoners affected by kidney disease.

“With over 400 British Columbians* on the waitlist for a life-saving transplant, and almost 80% of them waiting for a kidney, removing any barriers to living donation, including financial barriers is imperative,” said Dr. John Gill

For the first time since 2019, the BC & Yukon Branch was able to host the annual leadership conference in person, with the largest attendance ever of more than 100 people from across BC, the Yukon and other parts of Canada, who came together November 3-4.

The BC & Yukon Branch recently launched the new magazine, Kidney Living.

From September 10– 16, organizations across Canada come together to shine a spotlight on donors, recipients, and supporters of living donor kidney and liver transplants.
