Kidney Foundation launches new online auction

Just in time for holiday giving, The Kidney Foundation of Canada is introducing its first-ever Online Auction: a virtual auction of one-of-a-kind prizes and experiences that all Ontarians can bid on and enjoy.

As a result of the pandemic, The Kidney Foundation postponed all of its in-person events and pivoted to digital based fundraising opportunities. “Auctions have played a key role in raising funds at in-person galas and special events in many communities. The Kidney Foundation’s Online Auction will allow the foundation to continue to raise much needed funds to support patients and their families in a safe manner,” said Anthony Tirone, Executive Director of the Foundation’s Ontario Branch. “With the economic and health uncertainty impacting patients and their families, we know the demand for supports and services will continue to grow in the days ahead,” he added.

The auction www.kidneyfoundationauction.ca is online from November 23 – December 7. From custom art to sports memorabilia to cottage experiences – there is something for everyone.  For those that prefer a gift that keeps on giving, a special Fund A Need element was added to the auction to provide our donors with an opportunity to contribute to a specific program or service. Donors can choose to support kidney research, peer support, education or emergency financial assistance.

Living with a chronic illness like kidney disease isn’t easy, but this year the challenges have been intensified. From feelings of isolation and loneliness to increased feelings of anxiety and worry, individuals who depend on dialysis, or live with a transplant continue to face increased challenges.

Funds raised through the online auction will help ensure that Canadians living with kidney disease have access to the programs and support services they depend on. Our peer support volunteers will be the voice of compassion; our short-term emergency financial assistance will provide much needed support for safe and reliable transportation to dialysis. Together we will be the voice to ensure that kidney health and the needs of those living with chronic kidney disease is a priority. With your support we can continue to power leading kidney research to improve the treatment of kidney disease and ultimately discover a cure.

The Kidney Foundation Online Auction is made possible by the support of the Patrick and Barbara Keenan Foundation and Werger Realty Limited as well as many community sponsors and supporters.
