Introduction – Dr. Taschereau

Dr. François Taschereau is originally from Rouyn-Noranda, in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, where he attended elementary and high school. He then spent 10 years studying medicine at Université de Montréal and nephrology at the Université de Sherbrooke.

Dr. Taschereau and his wife now live in Val-d’Or. He has been the only permanent physician/nephrologist in the region for over 25 years. He divides his time between the region’s four dialysis centres in Val-d’Or, Rouyn-Noranda, La Sarre and Ville-Marie. Other nephrologists from the greater Montreal area assist him in his role.

Dr. Taschereau is highly involved with the kidney community. He is a member of the Kidney Foundation’s Val-d’Or Volunteer Committee and has agreed to serve as President of the Val-d’Or Kidney Walk to be held in September 2021. He is also involved in the Abitibi-Témiscamingue Chapter of the Kidney Foundation, where he helps raise awareness about kidney disease and promotes the services that the Foundation provides to people with kidney disease.

It was only natural that Dr. Taschereau would return to his native region to be close to his family and friends. He loves his home region for its quality of life, its vibrancy and the warmth of its people.
