Since its creation in 1996, the Medal for Research Excellence has been awarded annually to a Canadian resident who is recognized nationally and/or internationally for career accomplishment in kidney research. Recipients of this award are examples of Canadian research distinction. This award is a lifetime achievement, showcasing excellence in the Canadian kidney research field.

2025 Medal for Research Excellence Call for Nominations

Nominations are now being accepted for the 2025 Medal for Research Excellence. Nominations will be due by September 16, 2024.

The Medal for Research Excellence emphasizes the high value placed on research by The Kidney Foundation of Canada. It is presented to a Canadian resident who is recognized nationally and internationally for excellence in kidney-related research. 

Nominations for this award are sought from:

  • the Foundation’s branch network and committees; 

  • organizations external to the Foundation and Program Directors of Nephrology and Urology;

  • the research community.

In nominating a candidate for this award, please adhere to the nomination form’s criteria and describe, with specific examples, the individual’s achievements. Please include a copy of the nominee’s curriculum vitae.

Medal Awardees
