Podcast Episode Highlights the Realities of Living with Kidney Disease

Raising awareness of kidney disease and the impact of organ donation is personal for volunteer Amy Schlueter. Twenty-four years ago, Amy 's life changed forever when her sister gave her the ultimate gift, a kidney. That selfless act not only saved Amy's life but gave her the chance to build the future she once feared she wouldn't have. Today, she and her husband, Stephen, have a beautiful family with three children, and she has built a thriving career as an entrepreneur.

Amy is the CEO of Bespoke Productions Hub, one of Canada's fastest-growing independent podcast networks, dedicated to supporting and amplifying the voices of independent podcasters. Her podcast, Voices of Leadership, tells the stories of women who are redefining success and thriving on the edge of change.

This March, in support of Kidney Health Month, Amy is turning the mic toward a conversation that is deeply personal. She sits down with Cristina Howorun, a journalist with City TV, and a fellow kidney transplant recipient, to share the often-unspoken realities of living with kidney disease.

Together, they explore the highs and lows of transplantation, the gratitude, the challenges, and the misconceptions surrounding life post-transplant. Because while a new kidney is a second chance, it is not a cure. Transplant recipients live with the daily reality of being immunocompromised, a fact often overlooked because, from the outside, they may look perfectly healthy.

This episode is more than just a conversation. It's a call for awareness, understanding, and support for the millions of people living with kidney disease.

This special podcast was recorded as part of a Podcasthon that is highlighting the work of several charities and not-for-profits. Tune in to this special episode of Voices of Leadership as Amy and Cristina share their stories, break down the myths of transplantation, and remind us all of the power of giving, whether through organ donation, advocacy, or simply listening.
