Kidney Foundation Raises Funds for Patients at Kidney Walk

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - The Kidney Foundation of Canada celebrates its 10th annual Kidney Walk in Manitoba as it raises funds for kidney patients, many of whom are facing increased financial difficulties.

Like many Manitobans, kidney patients are struggling to make ends meet. Not only is the cost of their basic needs on the rise, but patients also face the burden of regular dialysis appointments, transportation, and costly medication. The Kidney Foundation of Canada sees how greatly kidney patients have been impacted in the last year, with a 41% increase in requests for financial support in Manitoba.

“Our programs provide essential financial support as best we can to patients who need it most in our province, but none of it would be possible without the generosity of our donors,” says Greg Unger, Executive Director at The Kidney Foundation of Canada, Manitoba Branch.

Funds raised at the Kidney Walk support many services, such as offsetting some household costs like groceries and gas, so kidney patients don’t need to choose between their basic needs. The Kidney Foundation of Canada invites you to join the 10th annual Kidney Walk fundraiser at Westridge Community Centre on Sunday, September 17, 2023; St. Vital Park on Sunday, September 24, 2023; and Morden Park on Sunday, October 1, 2023. For over 50 years, The Kidney Foundation has been working to reduce the burden of kidney disease by funding leading kidney research, providing programs and services for those living with kidney disease and raising awareness of kidney health and organ donation.
