Volunteers lauded for their many contributions

The Kidney Foundation of Canada celebrated many of its amazing volunteers during its National Annual Recognition Awards ceremony, held virtually June 19.

“It’s so inspiring to recognize outstanding volunteers for their dedication, enthusiasm and tireless support of The Kidney Foundation of Canada and those impacted by kidney disease,” said Elizabeth Myles, National Executive Director. “Our annual awards ceremony gives us an opportunity to look at the detailed efforts individuals and groups expend towards the success of many events, programs and outreach initiatives.”

Volunteers support efforts across a wide variety of activities, including fundraising, programs, advocacy, community awareness building and Foundation development. Throughout the spring, many Branches also celebrated the hundreds of volunteers who give over 41,000 hours annually to help The Kidney Foundation.

“Volunteer contributions are also key to our relationships within communities big and small from coast to coast,” said Ms. Myles. “Beyond the activity they may be directly involved in, our many volunteers are tremendous ambassadors who bring more attention to the seriousness of kidney disease and our work to make a positive difference.”
