Giving Tuesday 2023

Still time to donate to Giving Tuesday

Giving Tuesday is a global movement that celebrates generosity and kindness. It is a day to give back and make a difference in the world.

There’s still time for you to give and to support research that can make a transformational impact on those affected by kidney disease.

We are also raising awareness about the fact that kidney disease and heart disease often go together. Approximately 80% of people with advanced chronic kidney disease also have hypertension.

Treating these diseases together can be a challenging balance. That’s why it’s extremely important to better understand them and how they interact.

“It’s not too late to support our Giving Tuesday campaign, as we raise funds to support groundbreaking research that is deepening our knowledge of both kidney disease and heart disease and improving the outcomes for affected individuals,” said Elizabeth Myles, National Executive Director of The Kidney Foundation of Canada.

On the one hand, high blood pressure can damage blood vessels in the kidneys and prevent them from effectively filtering blood, leading to chronic kidney disease. On the other hand, kidneys produce a hormone that controls blood pressure, so when kidneys fail or become damaged, high blood pressure can follow.

Getting to the heart of this relationship can lead to better screening, treatments and a better quality of life for those impacted by heart disease and kidney disease.

Thank you for considering a gift that can change lives.
