Create a delicious kidney friendly meal featuring foods from the Afro-Caribbean culinary culture guided by Chef Khendra Thomspon. Learn how to use nutrition as a tool to promote good kidney health from Renal Dietitian Melanie Roet. 

Participants will receive information to bring home to help them continue on their healthy kidney nutrition journey.

This event is being organized in partership with the Rocena Kidney Foundation.

About Khendra Thompson:

Khendra Thompson is a culinary graduate from Algonquin College, where she completed the program with honours. She has worked in a wide range of kitchens, gaining hands-on experience across different cooking styles and operations. Most notably, she served as a military chef, an opportunity that sharpened her discipline, creativity, and efficiency in high-pressure environments. Working alongside chefs with over 20 years of experience helped her refine her technique and deepen her passion for the craft. She brings that same skill, curiosity, and dedication into every class she teaches.

About Melanie Roet:

Melanie Roet is a registered dietitian and has been working in the area of nephrology for more than 20 years at The Ottawa Hospital. Currently Melanie works in the Multi-Care Kidney clinic, cyctic renal disease clinic and the glumerulonephritis clinic.
