Understanding Grief in Chronic Kidney Disease

Thursday, March 26, 2026
4:00 - 5:30 p.m. MST
Virtual

Guest Speaker: Tyler Murphy

This presentation will explore the hidden layers of grief and ambiguous loss experienced by individuals living with chronic kidney disease (CKD), as well as their caregivers. CKD is not only a progressive medical condition but a life-altering diagnosis that brings ongoing and often unrecognized losses — including changes in physical health, independence, identity, roles, relationships, and future plans. Many of these losses are invisible to others, creating complex emotional layers that can be difficult to name, validate, or process. Acknowledging the impact mental and emotional well-being can have and why these responses are both common and valid.

The session will also provide practical coping strategies, supportive resources, and tools to help patients and caregivers acknowledge, navigate, and manage the emotional realities of living with chronic kidney disease with greater resilience and support.

To register, email peersupport@kidney.ca or call 1.866.390.7337.
