Guest Speaker: Dr. Dervla Connaughton

Dr. Dervla Connaughton is a nephrologist and kidney genetics specialist at London Health Sciences Centre and run a dedicated kidney genetics clinic that assesses patients and families with suspected genetic kidney disease. In this session, Dr. Connaughton will explain how genetics can play a role in kidney disease, what genetic testing can (and cannot) tell us, and why understanding family history matters for patients and their relatives. The talk will focus on practical information to help patients and caregivers make sense of genetic results, the implications for their family members, and next steps in care. The presentation will be followed by a question-and-answer period, giving participants the opportunity to ask questions and share their experiences.
