Dave and Eleanor's Story

Thanks to Kidney Car, our vehicle’s journey didn’t end—it simply changed direction. And for us, that made all the difference.

As Dave and Eleanor stood in their driveway, the sun glinted off the hood of their old yet reliable sedan. For years, that car had been more than just a vehicle—it had been their companion through cross-country road trips, spontaneous getaways, and seven unforgettable drives to Mexico. It had even braved the desert roads of Nevada. But now, it was time to part ways.

The decision to donate the car wasn’t just about decluttering or moving on—it was deeply personal. Their daughter, a passionate advocate on the Atlantic Branch board, had long spoken about the incredible work the organization was doing. Inspired by her stories and wanting to do something meaningful with their still-functional vehicle, they decided to give it one final, purposeful journey.

They visited kidneycar.ca, and to their delight, the process couldn’t have been easier. The website was clear, intuitive, and user-friendly. Within minutes, they had submitted the donation form, and shortly afterward, they received a call to arrange the pickup.

When the tow truck arrived, something unexpected happened that added an extra layer of meaning to their act. The driver already had another vehicle on the flatbed—a fellow Kidney Car donor’s vehicle. The driver shared that the owner of that car had once received a life-saving kidney transplant and now wanted to give back in a big way. That moment struck a chord with the Dave and Eleanor. Their simple act of generosity was suddenly part of something bigger—a network of kindness, resilience, and gratitude.

They received their tax receipt, but the real reward was the feeling that lingered long after the tow truck had driven away. The process had been seamless from start to finish, and it left them with a deep sense of fulfillment.

Their beloved car may no longer be in their driveway, but its story didn’t end there. Thanks to Kidney Car, it would now help drive change for others in need—continuing its journey, just in a different form.
