Remembering Cynthia “Cindy” Cherry

It is with great sadness that The Kidney Foundation of Canada acknowledges the passing of Cynthia “Cindy” Margaret Cherry, a beloved supporter of The Kidney Foundation, living organ donor, and beacon of hope within the organ donation and transplantation community.

Cindy's commitment to organ donation and transplantation has left an enduring mark on all who knew her. She selflessly donated her kidney to her brother Tim over four decades ago, embodying the spirit of giving that defined her life. “How fortunate am I that I could help Tim in his battle against kidney disease?” she recalls. She touched countless lives through her many contributions to advocacy and support. Her message to others waiting for the gift of life never wavered. “Be your own advocate. Don’t be afraid to take control of your journey because your health is at stake. And don’t be afraid to ask your loved ones to donate – you will be surprised at the response you get.”
