2023 Richardson Wealth Kidney March wraps up another successful event!

This past weekend we celebrated the completion of the 2023 Richarson Wealth Kidney March with 400+ Marchers and Crew, their families, friends, and supporters. The determination and commitment to making a difference in the lives of kidney patients and their families is truly heroic and it is because of these brave individuals that Kidney March 2023 exceeded every expectation.

Marchers and Crew come together because their lives have been impacted by kidney disease. They are made up of family, friends, kidney disease and transplant patients, researchers, doctors, nurses, and more. They all walk side by side as equals sharing their stories and experiences along the way, building bonds that go far beyond the event itself.

The Marchers commit to a 100km journey to raise funds and awareness for kidney health and organ donation. The march spans over three days on a challenging route through the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. This adventure brings them though Millarville, Kananaskis, Diamond Valley, Bragg Creek, and ends at Winsport Canada Olympic Park in Calgary.

The 2023 Richarson Wealth Kidney March raised over 1.11 million dollars. This year’s fundraising contributes to the over $13 million raised through Kidney March to support all those living with kidney disease, fund life-saving research, and fuel organ donation initiatives and education.

Kidney disease is with you for life, demanding attention from every part of you and it is a leading cause of death in Canada. There is no cure for kidney disease. Both dialysis and transplant are the best treatment options. 1 in 10 Canadians has kidney disease; that’s 4 million people. 76% of Canadians waiting for an organ transplant are waiting for a Kidney. With an average wait time of over four years, for some, the wait will be too long. This is why funding research is vital to the development of early detection, improved treatments, and finding a cure.

The true power of Kidney March, however, is beyond the numbers, it’s made up of every participant’s compelling story and the incredible impact their compassion and perseverance have on the lives of their fellow Canadians living with kidney disease. By participating in this remarkable event, Marchers and Crew exemplify what is necessary to drive positive change and improve lives.
