About our Guest Speaker:

Pauline Camirand is a Clinical Educator for the Kidney Health Manitoba program at Seven Oaks General Hospital.  She has been a nurse for the past 15 years, with 13 of those years in Kidney Health at both the Health Science Center and Seven Oaks General Hospital.

Her true passion for renal care stems from seeing her grandfather, who spoke no English but had to navigate through kidney failure, going from peritoneal dialysis to hospital admission to hemodialysis treatments in hospital.  How scary it must have been for him to be going through that without really knowing what is happening because he did not speak the same language as his care providers or have the resources available at his disposal to gain understanding of what he was going through.  It was through seeing her grandfather’s struggles that she wanted to be involved with kidney care so that she could play a small part in bridging the gap in patient understanding of what is happening to them and what options are available to them.
