Hope in Motion: Calgary Gears Up for Inspirational Green Shirt Day Community Parade hosted by The Kidney Foundation of Canada’s Southern Alberta Branch

The Kidney Foundation of Canada, Southern Alberta Branch asks you to be inspired by the ‘Logan Boulet Effect’ and help make a meaningful impact on Sunday, April 6, 2025, for the 7th Annual Green Shirt Day. Wear a green shirt proudly and bring your enthusiasm to Calgary in recognition of the vital link between organ donation and the gift of life.

We invite you to participate in a two-kilometer walk forming a community parade starting at 10:00 am near and through Prince’s Island Park. Everyone touched by or inspired by organ and tissue donation is encouraged to join this public movement of hope and inspiration.
  • When: Sunday, April 6, 2025, 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
  • Where: Meet us for a 2 km walk starting at 200-286 Memorial Dr NW Calgary Parking Lot 59 (Google map link - https://maps.app.goo.gl/SaxMmRy47Hdv2ZZB7) on the north side of the Bow River Pathway Bridge at Memorial Dr near Prince’s Island Park.
Join the Canadian organ and tissue donation community and the kidney community in championing this movement of hope and inspiration. This gathering not only shines a light on the need for more organ donors in our province but also pays tribute to the enduring legacy of Logan Boulet. It's an opportunity to honor and recognize the invaluable contributions of organ and tissue donors and their families while celebrating the life given to recipients of organ donations from right here in the Calgary area.

“It has been our privilege to work with the Boulet family as powerful and effective community advocates to promote and educate about organ donation and continue to inspire others to step up and take action towards this cause,”  states  Joyce Van Deurzen, executive director of the Kidney Foundation of Canada’s Southern Alberta and Saskatchewan Branches, “and that is what we all need to do, take action and talk about it, because the more people we can get committed to this cause, the more lives are going to be saved. It’s just that simple.”

We acknowledge that April 6th is the anniversary of the Humboldt Broncos bus tragedy. Before we start the Parade, we will take a moment to acknowledge this loss, as well as the strength of the survivors and their families who continue to inspire us.
