Nancy Verdin

Nancy has lived with kidney disease for 36 years, 26 of them on hemodialysis. Her life with kidney failure began with a crash start on hemodialysis at the age of 28. Her knowledge as an occupational therapist (now retired) played a key role in learning to live with ckd. Her passion is to bring wellness and recovery to people living with ckd, dialysis and transplantation. Her lived experience demonstrates the need for activity and exercise to become a cornerstone of well being to change the direction from living with ckd to thriving. She became a patient partner in 2017 and completed her Patient and Community Engagement Research (PaCER) certificate in 2019 (qualitative research). She currently serves on the KRESCENT Patient and Community Advisory Network (PCAN) and is involved in many research projects. Bringing the patient/family voice to research has been a rewarding and enriching experience.
